Prinsens gate runs parallel to Karl Johans gate. Prinsens gate is just over 600 meters long from Wessels Plass in the west to Dronning Eufemias gate in the east.  An important turning point in street history is the city fire in April 1858 where several quarters burned down, after the fire, several buildings with three and four floors were built instead of the previous two.
